Dear Sir or Madam:

I have over 20 years experience in Mechanical Design using AutoCAD and 6 years with Solidworks.  In most of my design positions I took a hands on role. I have always worked closely with all departments. I spent much of the time in the shop with the crew at the site of fabrication and assembly.  I have actively assisted in assembly. Working side by side with shop personnel and created a bond between the design function and fabrication.  It was this approach that provided me with great success. I worked closely with vendors during part and material selection. I was responsible for the selection and order of long lead-time components such as electric motors and special fabrication pieces like cam rings and bearings. I was responsible for maintaining BOM and manuals as well as all documentation for each project.  In most cases I had multiple projects going simultaneously while working under deadline conditions.

In addition to drafting and design, I also have a strong computer networking background. I can troubleshoot, maintain and repair PC’s, and NT networks, printers, plotters and other hardware.  I have also a very strong background in MS Office applications.

Why so many jobs?
It is called Contracting. I worked through temporary agencies to gain the much-needed experience that I lacked in the beginning. Everyone around me told me just how valuable this experience was going to be someday.  Keep in mind; I have learned Machine Design from as many perspectives as the number of companies listed on my resume. It is for this reason that I am intensely creative, conceptual, intuitive, and innovative as a mechanical designer.

During the 90’s it was called the “Downsizing of America”. Companies were laying off two employees and replacing them with one. I was part of the replacement group. It meant that I had to come in and get up to speed fast. After the contract ended I was in the market for that permanent job again. Before it presented itself another contract was available. I figured it to be better to be working than looking for work. The truth is my temporary job was at least as secure as that of the permanent employee considering I was usually brought in to fill a void created by a layoff. I have always desired the full time permanent position. However; the contracts were there when I needed work, and have been paying my bills, and putting me through college to this day.

I would be pleased to work for a company that fosters high standards. If chosen for this position I would be relocating to the area.

Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Regards,
